Position Summary
RSI is currently recruiting for a Project Manager II.The Project Manager II manages and ensures the timely completion of discrete technical or operational projects; adheres to technical requirements for the project; defines project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and risks; and oversees the project team in the planning, tracking, and execution of the project from initiation to completion. This position is located at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. The salary range for this position is $170k - $200k.
Primary Responsibilities
+ Assumes responsibility for day-to-day administrative/operational management of activities and functions in a designated program area within a line or staff department, including contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of program policies, procedures and standards; determining program service levels and enhancements; assists with the development of and monitoring program budgets; providing technical advice to staff, other departments, and performs related work as required.
+ Lead constructability reviews of the design process and the potential impacts to construction cost and schedule.
+ Provide personal leadership, direction and technical advice regarding health, safety and environmental compliance.
+ Develop work packages that define what will be accomplished to meet specific programmatic needs and produce the work products defined by the work packages.
Job Knowledge/Qualifications
+ Advanced knowledge of all phases and complexity levels of construction projects, upgrades, renovations and D&D.
+ Extensive knowledge and experience with facility maintenance and/or construction management including systems engineering design and maintenance, safety/authorization basis, configuration management programs, work control and facility control systems.
+ Extensive knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements related to all trades.
+ Extensive understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
+ Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
+ Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong and effective customer engagement.
+ Demonstrated experience interfacing with program, project, and line management to develop clear and executable action plans to address issues or needs.
+ Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions and establishing a recovery Plan/Path forward.
+ Ability to determine actions to be performed on problems affecting maintenance programs.
+ Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills that includes reporting on project status to senior level management, project stakeholders, as well as regulatory inquiries.
+ Demonstrated skill in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
+ Demonstrated ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking job activities including the coordination of materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.
+ Ability to promote an open communication environment to develop mutual trust and teamwork.
Required Education and Experience
+ Requires a recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or specialized courses in project management, and ten (10) years work experience (5+ years experience in at least one of the following functions: engineering, procurement and construction) leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above, or any combination of education and experience.
+ Q-Clearance Required
+ Prior DOE experience supporting construction or D&D projects, direct involvement using EVMS programs preferred.
