Veterinary Assistant

**Location:** VCA Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital

**Position:** Full-Time

**Pay Range:** $17.40 - $23.50 per hour

About Us

VCA Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital is a 3-doctor general practice caring for dogs, cats, and exotic pets. We are looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented **Veterinary Assistant** to join our team. This role supports veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality care and exceptional service to our patients and their owners.

Experience in veterinary care is helpful but not required. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about animal health and wellness who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and surgeries

+ Safely restrain animals during procedures

+ Prepare and clean exam rooms and surgical areas (including sterilizing equipment and setting up supplies)

+ Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed

+ Monitor and record vital signs and animal behavior

+ Administer medications under veterinarian supervision

+ Maintain accurate patient records and update charts

+ Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling and managing inventory

+ Communicate clearly and respectfully with pet owners

+ Keep all clinic areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards

Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent required

+ Previous veterinary or animal care experience preferred

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills

+ Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team

+ Basic skills in animal handling and restraint

+ Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

+ Genuine passion for animal care and welfare

Work Schedule

+ 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts

+ Weekends off
