    Job Summary

    The College of Agriculture is seeking candidates for a Lab Assistant position to provide technical support and services at the Soil, Forage & Water Testing Lab in support of research, projects, services, and/or instruction.

     

    The Soil, Forage and Water Testing Lab at Auburn University serves the farming communities of Alabama through testing and analysis of a variety of agricultural materials, including soil, water, plant tissue, poultry litter, forages and feeds. This research testing laboratory also serves the citizens of Alabama by providing routine testing, commercial testing, and analysis of soil and tissue samples from lawns and gardens, as well as water from households, wells and other water resources.

    Essential Functions

    Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    + Cleans lab area and maintains lab equipment to ensure readiness for use in the lab.

    + Knows and follows all the lab safety rules.

    + Demonstrates correct operation of lab equipment.

    + Advises supervisor of all materials that need to be ordered for the labs.

    + Ensures equipment is functional and available when needed and advises supervisor of any equipment problems.

    + May perform administrative support duties such as data gathering, data input, filing, preparing reports, and ordering supplies.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    **Level I:** High school diploma; no experience required.

    **Level II:** High school diploma and two years of experience in providing assistance in a lab setting.

    **LevelIII :** High school diploma and four years of experience in providing assistance in a lab setting.

    *Substitution allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
