    The Department of Computer Science at SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) invites applicants for multiple tenure-track Computer Science faculty positions beginning Fall 2026. The area of specialization is open, with particular consideration in emerging and foundational areas of Computer Science.

     

    The department is seeking inspirational, engaging and dynamic colleagues ready to take an active role in the growth and direction of our departmental programs while leveraging research and industry trends/connections to ensure our students gain the knowledge, skills, and experience they need to pursue advanced degrees or successful industry careers. CS Department faculty are a collaborative group and welcome junior faculty to direct significant change, affording those in this position a unique opportunity to shape the future of our programs and offerings and to collaborate with faculty colleagues in programs across our campus. Department faculty also guide our students in undergraduate capstones and graduate projects and theses, an opportunity for students to apply their acquired skills in real-world applications or explore hands-on research. Further, SUNY Poly faculty often engage in community outreach and industry collaboration.

    The Department of Computer Science at SUNY Poly currently offers the following programs:

    + BS in Computer Science

    + BS in Applied Computing

    + An accelerated BS/MS in Computer Science

    + MS in Computer Science

    + Minor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

     

    The department is also in the process of developing a Ph.D. in Computer Science. Additionally, department faculty lead courses that serve students from many other campus programs and colleges, are actively involved in several capital efforts set to further improve departmental facilities, and are strongly encouraged to join and lead multidisciplinary collaborations to advance research, education, and workforce development.

     

    We are eager to hear from candidates with a commitment to advancing SUNY Poly's strategic plan and our mission, vision, and values. The expected start date is August 2026.

    Description of Duties:

    The successful candidate will:

    + Develop, maintain, and teach courses in the department's undergraduate and graduate programs

    + Build a scholarly research program incorporating undergraduate and graduate students

    + Develop an externally funded research program

    + Mentor and advise students on academic and professional matters

    + Serve the college and community

    + Other reasonable duties as assigned

    Salary Ranges: Assistant Professor $90,000 - $100,000/ Associate Professor $100,000 - $110,000/ Professor $110,000 +

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Applicants for this position must have a PhD or ABD in Computer Science (or closely related discipline) from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization.
