    Job Description

    Position Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on, highly organized Project Manager to oversee and support multiple data center construction projects, with a strong focus on HVAC systems and equipment startup. This role is critical to managing the daily operations, schedules, and coordination between field teams, mechanical contractors, and client representatives. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with grit, accountability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

This position is onsite daily, working directly with mechanics and customers—not behind a desk. You’ll be the face of the project, ensuring smooth execution, accurate updates, and strong relationships across all stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary on-site leader for execution teams, particularly for truck-based operations supporting data centers.

Manage equipment startup for 30–90 HVAC units per project, including cooling towers and other critical systems.

Attend daily meetings with mechanical contractors and owner reps; provide end-of-day updates and maintain clear communication.

Split an 8-hour day between project management (4 hours) and hands-on work (4 hours) to ensure progress and accountability.

Handle project scheduling, administration, Alloy updates, and documentation using Microsoft Project and other tools.

Support the drop and startup of up to 900 pieces of equipment annually—a volume that requires dedicated oversight and coordination.

Oversee 2–6 concurrent projects, each involving 4–10 mechanics daily; gather field data and ensure accurate reporting.

Manage subcontractors, procurement, billing, and change orders while maintaining profitability and positive cash flow.

Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, safety standards, and Johnson Controls procedures.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, and subcontractors.

Support project development efforts and customer training coordination.

Maintain a consistent 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM schedule, with flexibility to meet project demands

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. Skills and Requirements

    Must-Have Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of project management experience in HVAC

Trade school certificate or 2-year degree in a related field (Construction, HVAC, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, etc.).

Strong critical thinking skills, grit, and emotional intelligence—able to handle intense customer interactions with professionalism.

Proven ability to work onsite daily, engaging directly with field teams and customers.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
