Job Description

We are seeking a GIS Contractor to provide technical support for its enterprise GIS environment. The incumbent will focus on maintaining and enhancing the ArcGIS Enterprise infrastructure, supporting ArcGIS Online operations, and strengthening data governance practices. This role is initially remote but may transition to a hybrid schedule (2–3 days onsite, remainder remote) within 6–12 months as the county transitions back to the office.

ArcGIS Enterprise Support: Administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of portal, server, and data store components.

ArcGIS Online Management: Publishing and maintaining services, maps, dashboards, and web applications.

Data Governance: Enforcing data standards, metadata, naming conventions, and authoritative data layer management.

System Enhancements: Supporting upgrades, patches, performance tuning, and security compliance.

Workflow Optimization: Collaborating with County staff to develop, document, and improve GIS workflows.

Quality Control: Performing QA/QC on spatial data to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Documentation & Training: Preparing SOPs, technical documentation, and providing knowledge transfer.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

3–5+ years of experience administering and supporting Esri ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.

Proficiency in publishing, managing, and troubleshooting map services and hosted feature layers.

Knowledge of data governance practices, metadata standards, and data lifecycle management.

Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python/ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python, ModelBuilder).

Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL with PostGIS).

Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve GIS and infrastructure-related issues.

Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Experience working in or with the public sector is a plus.

Ability to obtain CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Certification.
