    The Department of Family Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator to join our team.

     

    This opportunity is for a Research Coordinator who will support PRIME Lab (https://familymedicine.uw.edu/prime-lab/) in its mission to promote health equity by studying how to transform and optimize the delivery of primary healthcare. Many of the studies take place in partnership with clinics across the Pacific Northwest by testing and implementing evidence-based treatments in primary care, improving quality improvement capacity within practices and leveraging electronic health records to improve health. Research projects will include, but are not limited to, studies in sinusitis, integrated mental health, addiction, chronic health conditions, loneliness and multisite trials. Multiple projects may be in progress simultaneously, with the expectation of additional projects in the future. The research coordinator will work under the supervision of the Lead Research Scientist and contribute to the research agenda of multiple investigators

     

    The position involves coordinating and supporting multi-site clinical trials and operational functions for multiple studies. Specific complexities include:

     

    • Developing and verifying complex study protocols and investigative procedures that often occur at multiple levels (patient, clinician, and health system) to accomplish research goals and tracking and monitoring multiple activities for projects simultaneously.

    • Providing primary project management duties with support from supervisor to meet research milestones at multiple clinical sites from study start-up to close out.

    • Gathering and synthesizing information from diverse sets of patient stakeholders, clinical collaborators and co-investigators and leveraging insights to strategically align partnerships in support of research aims.

    Position Dimensions and Impact to the University:

    This Research Coordinator position is crucial for ensuring that UW School of Medicine stays abreast and contributes innovative research to the vital fields of integrating behavioral health, loneliness, chronic pain and substance use disorder care in primary care and implementation of evidence-based practices in primary care.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support overall coordination of research studies with supervision from the Lead Research Scientist. Coordinate day-to-day research operations including participant recruitment, data collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement and tracking research milestones. Develop timelines and project plans and utilize project management software to monitor activities and drive progress. (20% of time)

    • Coordinate internal and external communications. Liaise between the project teams, collaborating institutions, multiple investigators, and the sponsors and facilitate connections between collaborators and clinical sites. Ensure that sites are meeting recruitment targets and provide support as necessary to facilitate fidelity to procedures that enable study success. Coordinate administrative planning with faculty and senior research staff leading projects by scheduling and coordinating meetings, developing agendas, taking notes and tracking action items. (15% of time)

    • Provide support to faculty, staff and trainees (including postdocs, residents and medical students) across multiple domains: post-award by assisting with submitting for approvals for general purchases, vendor agreements, and reimbursements, managing IRB submissions, modificiations, and reliance agreements, and drafting research progress reports for internal meetings and sponsor requirements; pre-award by convening stakeholders, contributing to additional grant proposals, and sheperding preliminary IRB approvals as requested by sponsors. (20% of time)

    • Develop surveys and data collection procedures by building and managing study REDCap databases. Identify existing tools and validated measures for specified outcomes. Preform routine data quality checks and divise solutions to any issues that arise. Contribute to data analysis with support from senior research staff. (15% of time)

    • Contribute to the development and editing of manuscripts, posters and presentations by drafting text, creating tables and figures, conducting literature reviews and appropriately referencing the existing literature. (10% of time)

    • Direct patient engagement by cultivating relationships with community-based organizations, designing interview and focus group guides, facilitating conversations and supporting qualitative data analysis efforts. Outreach directly to participants in a professional and personable manner through multiple media and tracking participant progress throughout the research cycle: recruitment, screening, consent and data collection. Develop recruitment materials, study consents, HIPAA Authorizations when applicable. (20% of the time)

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    + Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.

     

    _Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration._

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    -Experience or interest in primary care practice-based research

     

    - Experience using UW systems and processes in support of research

     

    - Experience using project management tools (e.g., Asana, Smartsheet, MS Project, etc.)

     

    - Experience in electronic data management and analysis tools such as REDCap, R, etc.

     

    - Experience in research project coordination

     

    - Experience supporting IRB development and submissions

     

    - Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection

     

    - Proficiency in standard workplace computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

     

    - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to work with a multidisciplinary team and diverse stakeholders

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $56,832.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $108,000.00 annual
