    Job Description Summary

Collaborate with multidisciplinary set of engineers to lead our thermal-structural FEA analysis activities for hypersonic propulsion hardware design, for both ground and flight applications. Ideal applicant should be comfortable with leading design reviews, compiling technical reports and communicating results to the team.

To accomplish the given tasks, candidate must be proficient in implementing thermal-structural ANSYS/FEA codes to provide detailed thermal-structural analysis of hypersonic components, with results feeding into and guiding the design of these components. Apply engineering principles to analyze the integrity and/or thermal-structural performance of the designed components and subsystems. Candidate should have an excellent understanding of typical engineering processes, contributing to the team’s effort in leading designs to the manufacturing and testing stages.

Communication and documentation are critical as you will often need to prepare slides (or other documents) to present to the team (and/or to customer), whether it is to describe detailed thermal-structural analysis or to discuss project progress.

    Job Description

+ Ability to understand engineering principles and apply them to technical tasks, mainly thermal-structural analysis. Work with your teammates to incorporate appropriate boundary conditions, constraints leading to a detailed accounting of the components’ thermal-structural response.

+ Ideal candidate will also be knowledgeable in performing lifetime/cycle analysis, reliability assessment, elastic-plastic analysis.

+ Thermal-structural analysis of prototype components and subsystems for rapid development of hypersonic propulsion systems

+ Assist team in the development of thermal-structural systems from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable component.

+ Document and communicate assumptions, inputs and analysis results to multidisciplinary teams for review.

+ Prepare presentations and slides to communicate ideas and/or progress on projects.

+ Ability to work well in with Integrated Product Teams to perform and lead thermal-structural analysis, contributing results and informed recommendations to the team, allowing them to develop and verify novel design solutions that meet established program objectives and requirements (technical, cost, schedule).

+ Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.

+ 10+ years structural analysis experience with expertise in FEA.

+ Skilled with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and performing simulations in ANSYS for thermal-structural analysis.

+ Strong understanding of engineering principles and applying them to technical tasks.
