Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for an Aircraft Loadmaster (Instructor), Position Description Number D1632000 and is part of the 165th OSS, Georgia Air National Guard located in Garden City, Georgia. This is a full-time, Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Current members within the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard. Responsibilities As an Aircraft Loadmaster (Instructor), GS-2185-10, you will: Conduct loadmaster training to ensure worldwide capability. Training includes initial and mission qualification as well as continuation, upgrade and specialized training. Provide actual formal classroom instruction and on-the-job experience through flying simulated or real-world missions. Analyze and interpret guidance. Write and modify general guidelines from a broad scope of principles, concepts, technology and methodology in order to form practical lesson plans for flight training. Initiate and maintain training records. Analyze and evaluate training accomplishments to determine the effectiveness of the loadmaster training program. Review maintenance directives, bulletins and flight manuals, applying to a broad range of loadmaster duties. Determine the adequacy of procedures and techniques for the unit's mission/weapons system and recommends and submits changes as necessary. Acquire, analyze and evaluate trend analysis data. Teach and demonstrate the proper donning and doffing of the Aircrew Chemical Defense Ensemble (ACDE) in preparation for operations in toxic chemical and biological environments. Instruct and certify loadmasters on the proper use of night vision equipment for engine running on/off loads, aero medical evacuation (AES) missions, air refueling and all methods of airdrop. Provide direct assistance to the aircraft Pilot. Perform preflight inspection of the interior and exterior of the aircraft, to include engines, fuselage, and control surfaces for mechanical and structural soundness. Functionally check all aircraft systems, flight instruments, and onboard computers e.g., Communications Navigation Identification Unit, Heads Down Display (HDD), the Self Contained Navigation System (SCNS), Inertial Navigation System (INS), Traffic Alert and Collision Avoiding System (TCAS), Ground Collision Avoidance System (GCAS) and Multi-functional Control Display. Input data into onboard computer systems. Update Air Traffic Information System (ATIS) information and Take Off and Landing Data (TOLD) as required. Advise maintenance personnel of any items requiring corrective action or affecting safety of flight. Review aircraft maintenance documentation and ensure aircraft maintenance status complies with the command operating restrictions and the applicable flight manual. Coordinate with aircraft maintenance personnel to ensure availability of aircraft. Determine takeoff, in-flight, and landing data, based on terrain, runways, weather conditions, and aircraft weight/configuration. Assist the pilot with engine starting and ground operations when mission dictates. Advise the pilot on engine performance, monitor departure procedures, routing, and altitude clearances. Read maps and advise pilots of navigation turn points, obstacles, terrain hazards, threats and other aircraft. During low-level routes provide pilots with sight navigation information. Fuel and defuel aircraft. During all aircraft operations, monitor engine and aircraft system performance, analyze instrument readings, and identify abnormal indications or system malfunctions. Observe warning indicators and lights for fire, overheating, depressurization, or other malfunctions; advises the aircraft commander, and initiates corrective or emergency actions. Operate and regulate environmental, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, pressurization, radar, and other systems as required by the applicable flight manual. Operate built-in test and trouble shooting systems. Observe power settings, airspeed, and altitude and cruise performance. Record fuel consumption, range and in-flight performance data. Monitor the operation of engines and other aircraft systems to include; fuel (inflight duties include cross feed operation, balancing of fuel and fuel dumping if required), hydraulic, electrical and environmental systems. Monitor radio communications from Air Traffic Control, Command Post, and other controlling agencies. Assist the pilot with radio calls when required. Assist pilot with inflight emergencies. Observe and analyze Advisories, Cautions and Warning System (ACAWS) and recommend appropriate actions. Report abnormal conditions or malfunctions to the aircraft commander. Perform all flap and landing gear emergency procedures, as required. Complete post flight check of the aircraft and coordinate with maintenance all discrepancies requiring corrective action. Perform other duties and assigned. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience requirements are to be determined locally. Specific AFSC's may be included when essential for successful performance of the job. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
