We are seeking a Principal Engineer to support our Repair and Test group based in Windsor Locks. Reporting to the engineering manager, you will be responsible for providing engineering support related to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aerospace products, primarily focused on propeller systems products and associated test equipment primarily used on military platforms. Your responsibilities will include management of task assignments with direction from the engineering manager, technical evaluation of test rig anomalies and developing new test capabilities, development of engineering work instructions and quality control / quality repair documents. This position will interact with all levels of the organization and external customers
What You Will Do
+ Develop and implement solutions to technical engineering issues with/without supervision or assistance from more senior engineers in the group for difficult and complex problems.
+ Review existing repair data, technical drawings, and previous repair history for entire propeller system and components, including interfacing with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
+ Troubleshoot and repair complex test equipment, and conduct root cause analysis.
+ Source and assist with design of test equipment.
+ Provide written technical accomplishment instructions for repairs or modifications to maintenance, customer, and regulatory authorities, including interfacing with the OEM.
+ Analyze and substantiate complex repair or modification designs using standard accepted industry practices.
+ Produce technical analyses to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory, customers, OEM requirements and update and revise technical data in shop procedures when required.
+ Identify and implement process improvements individually and as part of a team.
+ Communicate technical details of repair or modification through computer aided design tools.
+ Assist other engineers in performance of their tasks and responsibilities to maximize the department’s efficiency.
+ Work with the operations team to develop and implement cost savings activities, sometimes as the team leader.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of EH&S risks and impacts of work activities and the benefits of improving EH&S performance.
Qualifications You Must Have
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience **or** an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
Qualifications We Prefer
+ Working experience in a FAA Repair Station as a Repair Engineer or similar position.
+ Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings and other technical documentation.
+ Working knowledge and understanding of GD&T.
+ Strong computer skills including MS Office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) and CAD/CAM software packages (preferably Unigraphics). Experience with SAP and/or Solumina is a plus.
+ Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes, measurement techniques and Industry 4.0.
+ Working experience with continuous improvement tools/programs such as Lean or SixSigma and demonstrated ability to use the tools/programs.
+ Demonstrated ability to understand and apply the policies/procedures and special instructions of all customer(s) and the ability to understand and promote the policies/procedures of Collins Aerospace while operating within Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
+ Demonstrated ability to understand and apply information from technical manuals and documents as well as other reference material.

**Onsite:** Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
