This position is responsible for the supervision and leadership of the Central Inventory Unit within the Fleet and Material Management Warehouse. This position will perform a variety of tasks associated with the manipulation, maintenance, update and analysis of the database associated with the inventory maintained by the Central Distribution Center. The position is the primary interface between physical and electronic inventory. This position is responsible for creating and submitting inventory orders using both SAP and Ariba systems, following up on purchase orders to maintain adequate stock for Central Inventory. Position performs preliminary analysis of stock inventory, reorder points for Central Inventory and other data to develop optimal stock inventory to provide desired levels of support for field operations. The position interfaces with manufacturers, Purchasing, vendors, delivery services, customers and other DOT personnel in the process of ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, delivering and solving problems associated with the center’s daily operations. Initiate corrective action as part of problem solving and recommend policy and procedures that may prevent re-occurrences. Recommend changes to existing management systems, develop new procedures and take other appropriate actions to improve or enhance the effectiveness of the support provided to field operational units. Supervises two Administrative Specialist I positions that process requisitions from field units for field inventory replenishment as well as direct usage. Other duties as assigned.
The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: working knowledge of warehouse inventory practices and/or working knowledge of inventory databases.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Management prefers applicants with the following:
+ Considerable knowledge of the SAP Material Management Module and Ariba.
+ Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration as it applies to management and operation of Central Inventory and the support of field operations in normal and emergency conditions.
+ Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement administrative programs and procedures and to evaluate effectiveness.
+ Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in establishing, applying and interpreting a wide variety of administrative policies and procedures.
Additional Expectations:
The ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinate employees and establish and maintain effective working relationships with the DOT personnel, state officials and the general public.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
