    Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Labor and Delivery

    Arnot Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Labor and Delivery team full-time. This role offers the unique opportunity to be part of one of the most meaningful moments in a patient’s life—welcoming a new baby into the world. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the LPN plays a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-focused care during labor, delivery, and recovery.

    Key Responsibilities

    Clinical Care & Nursing Process

    + Deliver safe, compassionate care to assigned patients under RN supervision

    + Collect and document patient data systematically, noting changes in status

    + Implement individualized care plans based on patient needs

    + Communicate effectively and promptly with the care team

    Technical Skills & Medication Administration

    + Demonstrate competency in unit-specific nursing skills

    + Administer medications and IV fluids safely, following policies

    + Accurately document all care, interventions, and patient responses

    Patient Education & Support

    + Support patient and family education needs during the childbirth experience

    + Protect patient rights, privacy, and dignity at all times

    Emergency & Safety

    + Respond quickly and efficiently in emergencies following protocols

    + Adhere to infection control and risk management policies

    Professional Development

    + Participate in self-directed learning and complete mandatory education

    + Maintain BLS certification (ACLS required in critical care settings)

    Teamwork & Communication

    + Build strong relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families

    + Support unit needs with flexibility and a commitment to collaboration

    Qualifications

    + Graduate of a Practical Nursing Program approved by the NYS Education Department or another state authority

    + Current NYS LPN licensure (or eligibility)

    + BLS certification required within 90 days of hire (ACLS required in critical care)

    + One year of clinical experience preferred

    + Ability to assist patients, stand, and work on your feet for extended periods

    + Comfort with exposure to blood and bodily fluids (Exposure Category I)
