    Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

     

    Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Drive the strategic development and implementation of Project Kuiper's comprehensive export compliance program, encompassing U.S. (EAR/ITAR) and global trade regulations.

    • Design and implement scalable compliance mechanisms for tangible/intangible exports, deemed exports, licensing, and classifications across U.S. and global jurisdictions.

    • Provide expert guidance on EAR and ITAR requirements specifically within cloud and AI computing environments.

    • Review international transactions, make export license determinations, and manage the licensing process while advising on trade compliance best practices.

    • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, legal, tax, HR, and IT teams to develop compliance solutions that support rapid innovation.

    • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to simplify and strengthen the export compliance program while balancing business objectives with regulatory requirements.

    Project Kuiper's Global Trade & Compliance team is responsible for international trade strategy and operations including imports and exports for supply chain, manufacturing and sales.     Basic Qualifications

    - 5+ years’ of export compliance experience in a global corporate environment

     

    - Strong understanding of US export regulations including EAR & ITAR

     

    - A curious self-starter with a proven track record of diving into unknown territory, learning new concepts, and pushing your comfort zone.

     

    - An effective multi-tasker who navigates a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with grace and efficiency.

     

    - Experience with IT system controls, cloud computing, and AI

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Aerospace or technology manufacturing industry experience.

     

    - Experience working in a logistics and global trade compliance environment with multinational corporations.

     

    - Advanced compliance training, Masters or Law degree is a plus, but is not required

     

    - Prior trade experience with electronics, communications, and space product manufacturing or in a related industry

     

    - Experience identifying, creating and driving strategic trade initiatives

     

    - Experience working with global trade ERP systems

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
