    The Production Launch Engineer will be responsible for onsite support of the build team launching a production low volume (niche) vehicle. This role will also include the design and release activities to resolve launch issues as they arise.

    Production Launch Engineer Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    * Review of existing build process documentation to ensure alignment with actual procedural sequencing.

    * Development of new build process documentation as needed

    * Provide line-side engineering support to identify emerging issues and define corrective actions (both interim containment and permanent corrective resolution)

    * General launch issue tracking and status reporting

    * Specific Design and Release tasks include:

    * Reverse engineer OEM front end accessory drive (FEAD) bracket, developing cast and machined 3D models and relevant 2D drawings (D&R experience coupled with casting familiarity)

    * Design and release of a replacement heat sleeve solution for electrical ignition hardware (D&R experience coupled with ignition hardware and thermal / heat management familiarity)

    * Collaboration with commodity buyers for newly designed parts to develop sourcing agreements and ensure purchase orders are in place.

    * Establish quality requirements for newly designed parts and work with supplier quality team to ensure incoming compliance.

    * Work with supply base to ensure on time delivery plans are in place

    * Assume ownership of additional powertrain components as launch issues arise

    * Define and document 'transparency' validation for any newly designed or resourced hardware

    * Provide status updates and formal presentation to customer both written and verbal

    Production Launch Engineer Job Qualifications:

    * Bachelor"s degree in mechanical engineering or related degree

    * High mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of generic product development tasks from inception to production and basic understanding of all powertrain subsystems:

    o IC engines

    o Air Induction & Filtration

    o Exhaust & Aftertreatment Systems

    o Fuel Systems (gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuels such as CNG & LPG)

    o Powertrain Thermal Systems (engine cooling and HVAC)

    * A willingness to adapt and work on multiple powertrain sub-systems during launch

    * Ability to read and interpret technical prints and assembly instructions

    * Working knowledge of GD&T

    * Familiarity with dFMEA and DVP&R documents

    * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and problem- solving skills

    * Ability to work both independently and in team settings while possibly handling multiple assignments simultaneously

    * MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency

    * Valid driver"s license and willingness to use personal vehicle for occasional transport of small parts between facilities

    A successful candidate may also have: (preferences)

    * Prior production launch experience

    * Previous D&R experience

    * Technical competencies preferred:

    o Casting development including geometry design, material selection, tooling and process familiarity

    o FEAD knowledge - Prefer previous experience/familiarity with FEAD layouts and tolerancing strategies

    o Heat shielding and heat management
