    **Work Schedule:** 8 Hr (9:00:00 AM - 5:30:00 PM)

    **Pay Range:** $23.12 - $36.41 per hour

    Summary:

    Read to Heal (RTH) is a clinical program consisting of reading training combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for children that struggle with reading and may have a Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) with impairment in reading and comorbid mental health concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, ADHD and other psychiatric conditions). The Special Education Teacher will partner with a small team to deliver reading training (in-person and virtually) using The Wilson Reading System®. This position is crucial to helping children improve reading skills, toward the goal of a growth mindset and improved overall mental health. This position is grant-funded through late 2026. The RTH Special Education Teacher exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

    Required Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field

    • 3 years of experience

    • Training in Wilson Reading System® or ability to receive training

    • Flexible availability during after school hours, on school breaks, and some summer availability

    • Able to work in-person and virtually

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

    • Willing to learn other electronic programs or data collection platforms

    • Experience with documentation and/or data collection

    • Ability to run reading groups independently

    • Experience working and willingness to work with children with learning disorders in reading

    • Experience working or willingness to work with children with mental health concerns, such as ADHD, anxiety, depression

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS) 1 or Reading Specialist

    • Familiarity with Epic or another electronic health record

    Physical Demands:

    This job requires the usual amount of standing and sitting throughout the workday.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Provides reading training utilizing The Wilson Reading System® to children referred by Rush providers.

    2. Screens for reading level, symptoms of anxiety, depression, and ADHD before and after the program.

    3. Ensures thorough completion of electronic screener forms and/or conducts data entry of screener forms.

    4. Coordinates other related logistics with the Licensed Clinician and Special Education Teacher.

    5. Consults with Licensed Clinician and Special Education Teacher regarding cases that need attention or follow up.
