Job Title: Software Engineer Job Description

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and documentation of software applications. You will apply industry best practices to solve complex problems and develop optimal solutions within new or existing code bases.

Responsibilities

+ Make targeted modifications to existing software applications and develop new components and systems as required.

+ Define work in both requirements and industry-standard methods.

+ Perform unit tests and adhere to applicable coding standards.

+ Leverage internal reuse and Free Open Source Software (FOSS) to minimize cost and maximize productivity.

+ Maintain a schedule related to assigned task status and completion dates.

+ Implement and apply sound configuration management processes, adhering to software CM and development policies and procedures.

+ Understand and adhere to cost and schedule targets established during the program design phase.

+ Establish, conduct, and document software testing based on customer requirements.

+ Work on the overall design and development of software products and applications.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in C++ with at least 4 years of programming experience.

+ Experience in unmanaged and object-oriented software languages.

+ Knowledge of configuration management tools.

+ Experience building to requirements and/or synthesizing requirements.

+ Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Unity, modeling, simulation, and training.

+ Familiarity with development environments such as Visual Studio, GNU make, Eclipse, Netbeans, and PowerAda.

+ Knowledge of graphics design software like GIMP.

+ Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems.

+ Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook).

+ Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, Atlassian Confluence, JAMA, and Axosoft Ontime.

+ Experience with simulator software support.

Work Environment

The work environment involves using various technologies such as JIRA, Confluence, and JAMA. You will work with development environments like Visual Studio, GNU, Netbeans, and PowerAda, in a setting that supports Windows and Linux operating systems. The position may require working with simulation and training tools such as Unity and involves interaction with the Army and PEOSTRI. A professional dress code is expected in alignment with industry standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $53.00/hr.
