Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor
Job Description
Join our specimen accessioning team, where you will be an integral part of the pre-analytical and post-analytical processes in testing. While you won't be directly involved in testing, your role is crucial in receiving, logging, and preparing samples for laboratory analysis. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to start or grow a career in a laboratory setting.
Responsibilities
+ Meet couriers to receive samples from across the USA and internationally, initiating the tracking process.
+ Verify sample arrivals, inspect for damage, dispose of packaging, and move samples for entry.
+ Operate various computer software systems and apply the correct software to respective samples.
+ Ensure names on samples match requisitions.
+ Handle primarily urine samples, with some samples including blood, serum, plasma, and body fluid.
+ Create labels and label samples after system entry.
+ Occasionally aliquot samples, centrifuge, or freeze them as needed for stabilization.
+ Assist in managing a workflow that processes 5,000-11,000 samples daily.
+ Maintain sample storage in walk-in refrigerators and freezers for periods of 3, 6, and 12 months.
Essential Skills
+ High School Diploma, preference for some coursework in science.
+ Intermediate computer, typing, and 10 key skills.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
+ High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Capability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Desire to advance within the lab setting.
+ Experience in multitasking from diverse backgrounds, including banking, serving, and customer service.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $18.15/hr.
