Mechanical Design Engineer Opening Supporting Theme Park Attractions
About the Role
Join our dynamic team in Orlando as a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on the design and development of world-class theme park attractions. From roller coasters and water rides to animatronics and immersive show systems, you’ll play a key role in bringing unforgettable guest experiences to life.
This position is ideal for engineers passionate about entertainment technology, large-scale mechanical systems, and the magic of theme parks. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including ride control, design assurance, operations, maintenance, and safety to ensure every attraction meets the highest standards of performance and guest safety.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead engineering efforts on projects ranging from concept to post-installation support.
+ Design and specify components for complex mechanical systems including ride vehicles, conveyance systems, and animated figures.
+ Conduct engineering analysis, oversee manufacturing, and support installation and testing phases.
+ Mentor junior engineers and ensure adherence to design standards and regulatory codes.
+ Interface with internal stakeholders and external vendors to maintain project timelines and quality.
+ Report progress to Facilities Asset Management and other key partners.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience designing heavy mechanical systems (e.g., conveyance, robotics, automotive).
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and engineering analysis tools (FEA, MathCAD, hand calculations).
+ Familiarity with standards such as AWS, DIN, ASTM, and SAE.
+ Strong collaboration and leadership skills across technical and creative teams.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Direct experience in theme park or amusement industry mechanical design.
+ Hands-on experience with ride testing, commissioning, and safety protocols.
+ Knowledge of fiberglass and composite material design.
+ Active or eligible for Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida.
+ Passion for delivering high-quality, guest-centric experiences.
Work Environment
+ This is a 100% onsite role based in Orlando, FL.
+ Occasional 2nd or 3rd shift work may be required during installation or testing phases.
+ Fast-paced, creative, and highly collaborative environment with a focus on innovation and safety.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.
