    Job Title: Forklift operator / Material Handler

    Job Description

    The General Operator role is influenced by seasonal demands, requiring flexibility to adapt to various tasks throughout the year. In spring and summer, responsibilities may involve inspecting and maintaining seed crops, as well as managing seed inventory. Fall focuses on harvesting and seed packaging, while winter tasks include cleaning, maintenance, and shipping seed products.

    Responsibilities

    + Receive and process trucks hauling crops from the field for weighing and unloading during September-October.

    + Conduct a variety of harvest activities, including combine cleaning.

    + Supply the Conditioning department with a constant seed supply.

    + Apply appropriate treatments to seeds.

    + Label, tag, bag, and palletize seeds from November-March.

    + Enter inventory information into the computer system.

    + Stage seed for shipment in the warehouse.

    + Retag in-house seeds and re-bag backhaul returned seeds from April-August.

    + Inspect and wash pro boxes to ensure cleanliness.

    Essential Skills

    + Knowledge of production agriculture and plant operations.

    + Ability to safely perform duties while maintaining seed quality.

    + Capability to work independently or as part of a team.

    + Adaptability to changing conditions and the ability to anticipate needs.

    + Decision-making skills to make independent judgments.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Forklift experience preferred.

    + General production skills.

    + Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings.

    + Reliable transportation and punctuality.

    + Enthusiasm, a good attitude, honesty, and respect for others.

    + Capacity to work long hours, rotational shifts, and overtime as needed.

    + Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    + Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 pounds, work in various environments, and walk on uneven surfaces.

    Work Environment

     

    The role involves working both indoors and outdoors, with significant walking. The work schedule is flexible, rotating every four weeks. Shifts may vary, with some weeks requiring ten-hour shifts from Monday to Thursday, either from 6 am to 4:30 pm or from 4 pm to 2:30 am. There is also a night shift rate increase for hours worked after 6 pm.

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
