POSITION: DIRECTOR OF SIMULATION OPERATIONS
REPORTS TO: Dean of Allied Health
SALARY RANGE: Mid to Upper $60’s annually, depending on education, qualifications, and
experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Simulation Operations provides leadership, management, and coordination of simulation learning. Works closely with faculty to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the Simulation Center on an ongoing basis. The director, in collaboration with faculty, develops and ensures the quality of simulation that supports evaluation of student competencies. Will also operate, maintain, and support the patient simulators, related electronics, and audio-video systems housed within the Simulation Center. This position may also include travel to other campuses as well as possible classroom instruction as needed.
Major Duties:
• Coordinates the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient simulation educational initiatives through the use of technology-based training and assessment;
• Conducts simulations within the Simulation Center scheduled by instructors, staff, and additional customers;
• Provides technical assistance to instructors, staff and other personnel utilizing the Simulation Center;
• Maintains and repairs equipment in the Simulation Center, and ensures timely ordering and availability of supplies;
• Provides training and serves as a resource for staff utilizing simulation equipment. Demonstrates and/or teaches technical aspects of operating the simulators and using simulation to faculty and others;
• Serves as liaison with simulation equipment vendors, audio/visual technicians, IS, and clinical engineering departments;
• Will develop the technical proficiency and integration with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting and repair of all of the equipment in the Simulation Center;
• Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate’s degree in Paramedicine Technology, Nursing, Electrical, Biomedical, or computer-oriented health-related field from a regionally accredited college or university;
• Two (2) years of work-related experience in the field of patient simulation;
• Working familiarity with principles of electronics, audio-video components, computers, and peripheral devices.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to adjust work hours based on the needs of the college – 40 hours weekly;
• Physical ability to lift and position simulation equipment up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation;
• Physical ability to maneuver in small places over cords and other obstructions, with or without reasonable accommodation;
• Appropriate audio and visual communication skills to facilitate scheduling, scenario recording, and scenario management;
• Knowledge of course standards and skill/expertise in subject area;
• Ability to understand, accept and follow directions;
• Skilled in the operation of computers;
• Appropriate oral and written communication skills that effectively communicate information to students who might function at the new, beginning, or advanced level;
• Ability to maintain accurate records;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
• Effective decision making and problem solving skills;
• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fair and unbiased manner, and to maintain a pleasant, professional relationship with students and faculty/staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):
• Bachelor’s degree in Paramedicine Technology, nursing, electrical, biomedical, or computer-oriented health-related field from a regionally accredited college or university;
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist;
• More than two (2) years of work-related experience in the field of patient simulation.
