GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
As the Travel & Expense Coordinator, you will serve as a resource in ensuring accurate, compliant and efficient management of employee travel and expenses. You will communicate, enforce, process and interpret the Met’s Travel & Entertainment policy balancing adherence to guidelines with practical business needs. You will act as the key contact point for general inquires on P-cards, Accounts payable and Travel & Expense policies. You will onboard and educate employees on submission processes and procedures. You will evaluate expense reports and handle exemptions with a strong focus on customer service & fostering positive employee experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
+ Act as a key point of general contact and answer questions relating to Finance Operations ( P-Card, Accounts Payable and Travel & Expense) Policies and Business Processes.
+ Enforce the Met’s T&E policy through daily review and approval of staff pre-trip approvals and expense reimbursements in Workday
+ Ability to apply policies thoughtfully, knowing when to escalate issues versus when to resolve independently.
+ Exercises sound judgment and discretion when interpreting and applying travel and expense policies.
+ Maintains a high level of attention to detail in reviewing expense reports, receipts, and supporting documentation.
+ Communicates policy guidelines, decisions, and exceptions with clarity, professionalism, and tact.
+ Ensures confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial and employee information.
+ Support duty of care initiatives including traveler safety protocols and emergency response in partnership with Security Command Center.
+ Collaborate to solve issues related to travel emergencies, expediting payments, or Workday transactions.
+ Onboard and support Met staff with T&E policy education, systems use, , processes, and online portal for travel bookings.
+ Manage inboxes for Travel Desk and Procurement requests.
+ Reconcile monthly travel cash advance ledger accurately and efficiently.
+ Ability to track spend trends, identify outliers, and prepare compliance or audit reports.
+ Troubleshoot Workday expense module issues proactively and participate in bi-annual Workday upgrade testing
+ Ad hoc projects as needed
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
+ 1 -3 years finance administration experience or equivalent experience with expense processing.
+ Knowledge of Workday expenses or similar order processing system.
+ Demonstrated experience providing high touch customer service.
+ Ability to learn Museum policy and speak to its details in support of staff.
+ Demonstrates strong critical thinking to resolve gray areas and ensure fair, consistent decisions.
+ Demonstrated experience with effective communication, diplomacy and conflict resolution.
COMPENSATION RANGE:
+ Pay Range: $33.00 - $35.00 / Hourly

Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
