We are seeking adedicated, skilled, and passionate Horticulturistto lead and support horticultural and landscaping projects across our 30-acre memorial grounds. This is an opportunity to combine your expertise in plant care and landscape design with meaningful work that honors our nation’s heroes. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Administrative Program Director 3.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Horticulture License issued by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry plus three years of experience in horticulture, floriculture, agronomy, landscape architecture, or in the general care of crops, shrubs or plants; OR
A bachelor’s degree in a plant science or landscape field of study.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Assist cemetery staff with day-to-day grounds maintenance activities
+ Support cemetery grounds operations by assisting with routine turf care, planting, pruning, and pest management to help maintain a respectful, clean, and healthy landscape for veterans and their families.
+ Act as a liaison between horticulturist attendants and managers or contract workers when specialized issues arise, ensuring maintenance tasks align with established care practices.
+ Provide practical support in scheduling seasonal maintenance, monitoring supply needs, and communicating routine maintenance concerns across cemetery locations.
+ Performs other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Classified WAE Appointment (not to exceed 1,245 hours in a 12-month period)
Work Location: Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA (Vernon Parish)
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
