Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! We are a 24-bed acute care critical access hospital serving the Florida Parishes region of Southeast Louisiana. We offer a wide range of services, including general surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. At Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, we are able to bring you a wide range of services close to home, provided by a network of board certified physicians.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent in this position will perform a wide variety of clinical diagnostic tests with emphasis on recognizing and resolving problems and requiring the application of interpretive judgment at LSU Health-Lallie Kemp Medical Center. This position will be required to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist license plus one of the following:
A bachelor’s degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science; OR
A bachelor's degree in a biological, physical, or chemical science plus one year of experience as a medical technologist.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Performs tests in the field of bacteriology which involve isolating, identifying, typing, and grouping bacteria and fungi present in body fluids, exudate, transudate, skin scrapings, autopsy, and surgical specimens.
+ Performs chemical tests and analyses of body fluids and other materials related to clinical medicine or research in the medical sciences, such as; chemical analyses of blood, urine, and spinal fluid.
+ Performs various hematological tests and examinations such as red blood cell counts, white blood cell counts, sickle cell tests, studies of red blood cell morphology, hemoglobin estimations, fragility tests, sedimentation rate, coagulation time, bleeding time, clot retraction time, and indices.
+ Prepares and examines feces and other materials for the identification of parasites and ova.
+ Performs agglutination, flocculation, complement fixation, fluorescent antibody, and other serological tests for the detection of disease status.
+ Assists in the teaching of laboratory technology students.

Work Location: This Medical Laboratory Technologist 1-3 position is located in the Pathology Department.
Work Hours: Shift will be determined by the department Manager.
Shift Differentials: In addition to Base Pay, Shift Pay and Certification pay is included only when working.
The incumbentshallpossess and maintain a valid BLS certification from American Heart Association before appointment .
