Description
Lee County Community Development is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Application Support Specialist (Technician II) to join our Accela Administration Team. This position plays a vital role in supporting and enhancing our permitting and records management systems, including Accela, DigEplan, Selectron, and Accela Citizen Access.
You’ll be responsible for system configuration, process automation, technical support, and project coordination. This role is key to improving digital services across departments and ensuring a seamless experience for both internal users and the public.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Develop and maintain proficiency in the use of permitting and record management systems, including GIS, DigEplan, Selectron IVR, and the Accela platform, as well as other relevant software.
+ Manage, configure, and develop the online permit application process, including both current systems and future upgrades.
+ Assists with developing detailed project plans, documenting processes/enhancements, and communicating project status to appropriate persons/departments.
+ Maintain system utilities such as fee structures, payment processes, and user access:
+ Set up new employees, provide training, and follow up as needed
+ Implement new case types and workflows
+ Support other departments with system needs
+ Write efficient, reusable JavaScript and SQL code to automate and streamline business processes within the permitting system.
+ Prepare for and support system integration testing.
+ Act as a liaison between departments, vendors, Lee County IT, and other stakeholders to:
+ Plan, design, and implement system enhancements
+ Troubleshoot and escalate issues to ensure timely resolution
+ Assist with resolving system and payment processing issues.
+ Document system processes, enhancements, and create user training materials.
+ Provide training and knowledge transfer to coworkers to ensure continuity of support and ongoing system improvement.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Minimum Qualifications
+ Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED and two years of related technical experience in application support, system administration, permitting systems, or a related field.
+ Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
+ Experience with the Accela Civic Platform or other permitting/land management systems.
+ Proficiency in JavaScript, with working knowledge of SQL, HTML, and CSS.
+ Experience configuring business systems, automating workflows, and performing software testing.
+ Familiarity with system integration concepts, APIs, and version control (e.g., Git).
+ Knowledge of local government permitting, planning, or development processes.
+ Experience in project coordination or process improvement initiatives.

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
