Description:

Our client, a leader in satellite broadband services, has an excellent opportunity for a Systems Integration & Test Engineer (Space Systems) to work on a contract opportunity. Work will be on-site in Carlsbad, CA. The System Integration and Test Engineer to support the development and testing of cutting-edge space systems, including our space vehicle and associated payloads. This is a hands-on, lab-based role focused on integrating hardware and software systems, validating space communications technologies, and supporting launch-readiness activities.

_Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance._

Rate: $50 - $100 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:

+ Set up and maintain lab environments for testing space hardware and software.

+ Develop and execute Python-based test scripts for automation and validation.

+ Integrate and test embedded software running on space vehicles.

+ Work with ICDs (Interface Control Documents) and manage data flows between systems.

+ Layer higher-level operational command sequences over basic system commands.

+ Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors to verify software and hardware interoperability.

+ Support testing of payload control software and space terminal systems.

+ Analyze system behavior in orbital contexts, including LEO and GEO dynamics.

+ Assist in diagnosing, upgrading, and remotely managing software on space assets.

+ Contribute to the development and validation of free-space optics and RF communications systems.

+ Apply basic antenna theory and gain equations to support system performance analysis.

Experience Requirements:

+ Experience or strong interest in **space systems** , orbital mechanics, and satellite communications.

+ Background in **system integration** , **software testing** , and **lab setups** .

+ Familiarity with scripting (Python) and automation tools.

+ Understanding of **hardware/software interactions** , especially in space environments.

+ Knowledge of **space-specific challenges** such as remote software loading, fault recovery, and data routing through third-party communications buses.

+ Basic understanding of **RF propagation** , **free-space optics** , and antenna performance metrics.

+ Ability to work **onsite in a secure lab environment** with U.S. persons requirements.

Education Requirements:

+ B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering or equivalent work experience

+ Experience with space development and testing tools (e.g., Cosmos).

+ Exposure to voltage measurement, signal processing, and system diagnostics.

+ Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D setting.

_Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range._
