    PeaceHealth is seeking an experienced OB Surgical Technologist for a per diem position in Family Birth Center at Southwest Medical Center. Join our Labor & Delivery team in this per diem role working variable 12-hour shifts to provide additional staffing as needed. Shifts are: 0630 - 1900 and 1830 - 0700.

    We offer you:

    + A wage range of $40.99 – $60.98. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, etc.

    + A 15% per diem differential in lieu of benefits

    + Additional compensation for Surgical Technologist Certification

    As an Obstetric Surgical Technologist, you'll be responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures in the Family Brith Center's OR. Will perform a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the obstetrical operative patient and/or her infant.

    Position Details:

    + Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.

    + Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.

    + Assist in preparation and moving of patients.

    + Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.

    + Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.

    + Maintain unit supplies by requisitioning and receiving supplies then stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs. Inventory control.

    + Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + High School Diploma Required

    + Required: 1-year Surgical Technologist work experience or Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program.

    + Experience with Obstetrical and gynecologic surgeries required.

    + Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs

    + Required: WA State Surgical Technologist Registration

    + Required: Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification

    + Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist

    Skills

    + Well organized, detail oriented and self motivated (Required)

    + Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others (Required)

    + Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required)

    + Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required)

    + Understanding of operating room protocols (Required)

     

    Working Conditions

    Lifting

    + Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

    + Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.

    + Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

    + Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.

    + Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.

    + Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.

    Environmental Conditions

    + Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

    + Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

    + Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

    Mental/Visual

    + Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

    + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

     

    This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.
