    Opportunity

     

    This manufacturing facility produces Sterling Vikrell and Kohler Choreograph Bathing & Showering products. As a Kohler Co. Manager of Quality, you will take ownership of directing, supporting and developing the quality and quality system initiatives including statistical process control (SPC), multivariable design of experiments (DOE), ISO 9000 certification and development, advanced product quality planning (APQP) support, and Kohler quality management system (KQMS) management and improvement. You will also provide Command and Control for the Quality function to include planning for and assuring that the necessary quality resources are in place to support, develop new processes, and modify existing processes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of established and new quality process that impact manufacturing operations to drive a gracious customer experience

    Responsibilities

    + Collaborate with the Sr. Mgr - Mfg Engineering to develop strategic goals and projects to support achievement of those goals for plant Quality team.

    + Effectively Build and Lead the quality assurance and control team and functions, including quality engineers as well as quality technicians on the team and developing their short and long-term projects to meet the team’s and plant’s strategic goals.

    + Oversee implementation of calibration systems for inspection and process testing procedures/equipment used in manufacturing operations in accordance with ISO 9000 standards.

    + Scheduling and conducting frequent audits of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products, reporting the results and monitoring trends.

    + Restricting products from shipment, as necessary, in accordance with established procedures.

    + Communicating with customers, other plants, and with consumer affairs and field sales, to resolve problems reported.

    + Continually strive to prevent/reduce claims and warranty.

    + Maintain ANSI, CSA, etc. certification status.

    + Drive warranty and UFR initiatives.

    + Develop database and lead yield enhancement initiatives.

    + Lead and monitor activities that result in product achieving capability, waste, government/environmental standards.

    + Lead/champion plant problem solving events & Root Cause/Corrective Action activities.

    + Support process engineering functions by overseeing the preparation of process documents for designated operations in manufacturing, auditing operations for conformance to established procedures, recommending added or altered process-controls which will improve manufacturing results using techniques such as statistical process control and multivariable design of experiments.

    + Work with management to develop programs to further integrate the use of SPC and DOE to eliminate process variation especially around scrap reduction activities.

    + Direct the efficient administration of the department, and carry out the management responsibilities of planning, controlling, leading subordinates, and reporting. Submit recommended budgets and capital expenditures.

    + Actively drive CI cost saving activities for continuous improvement to include: quality process improvements, product and packaging improvements focused on Delighting the Customer.

    + Ensure thatQualityengineering and tech resources are in place to ensure uniformity of product within Huntsville facility as well as among Huntsville/Casa Grande facility.

    + Use the ISO 9000 standards and Kohler Operating System to improve day-to-day process variation by coordinating the seamless integration of the necessary systems into existing manufacturing process.

    + To conduct management review meetings in accordance with ISO 9000 standards.

    + Develop, implement, enforce, and audit work procedures which ensure quality products produced at an economical cost.

    + Enforce Quality, legal compliance, technical standards of the product, process, and material for the Huntsville/Casa Grande facility.

    + Audit, analyze, and make recommendations to ensure systems and processes are followed and to solve issues related to product quality and uniformity.

    + Work with plant and quality leadership teams to develop forward thinking plans to grow the effectiveness of the Quality System.

    + Monitor Cost of Poor Quality results and engineering changes which will help the plant surpass COPQ objectives.

    Skills/Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accreditedengineering or engineering technology program.

    + Compression molding experience preferred.

    + Eight or more years of relevant quality function experience including five or more years of supervisory experience

    + Must have a passion for leading an engineering team in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing environment and driving continuous improvement to processes and equipment.

    + Ability to motivate, energize, and develop team members

    + Good communication and organizational skills

    + The ability to travel, on occasion, as needed for business purposes

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
