    Job Summary

    The Government Relations Specialist supports the organization's government relations strategy at the federal, state, and local levels, with a primary focus on health policy initiatives. This role monitors legislation, conducts policy analysis, and develops advocacy materials to inform and advance organizational priorities. The Specialist cultivates relationships with policymakers, associations, and advocacy groups, while ensuring compliance with lobbying regulations. The job also provides administrative and project management support for strategic initiatives and collaborates with internal departments, including Legal and Communications, to align policy engagement with organizational goals.

    Essential Functions

    + Monitors, tracks, and analyzes federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, and policy trends affecting healthcare operations and strategy.

    + Conducts research and prepares policy briefs, reports, talking points, and presentations for leadership and internal stakeholders.

    + Develops advocacy materials and supports engagement initiatives, including legislative summaries, briefings, and stakeholder communications.

    + Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with legislators, government officials, industry associations, and advocacy groups.

    + Provides project management support for government relations initiatives, including the Rural Health Transformation Fund and other priority programs.

    + Collaborates with Legal, Communications, and internal departments to provide insights on policy developments and support organizational strategies.

    + Supports participation in legislative hearings, hospital association meetings, and other national or state policy forums.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    + Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

    + Complies with all policies and standards.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required

    + 1-3 years of experience in communications, public policy, government relations, or a related field required

    + 3-5 years of experience in public affairs or healthcare advocacy preferred

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Strong understanding of federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory processes.

    + Ability to analyze legislative proposals, identify organizational impacts, and translate complex information into actionable insights.

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports, briefs, and stakeholder correspondence.

    + Demonstrated research and analytical skills to support policy development and decision-making.

    + Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects, track deadlines, and maintain records.

    + Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence without authority.

    + High attention to detail, accuracy, and data-driven problem-solving skills.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
