    Preferred Qualifications

    Role Purpose

     

    Responsible for providing a safe environment where risks for infection are identified and minimized for patients, employees and visitors at all BJC patient care delivery sites. Provides surveillance programs, data reporting, data analysis and intervention development aimed at reduction of healthcare acquired infections in patient and employees. Ensures appropriate communication and information exchange with all levels of the organization hospital regulatory compliance, legal, or risk management to accomplish infection prevention goals. In the absence of the immediate department manager, will assume leadership and coordination of all infection prevention events and processes

    Responsibilities

    + Instructs, coordinates, and monitors the work activities of department staff, managing the work schedule for departmental projects and events.

    + Coaches department and hospital staff in best technique for infection prevention practices through example, advice, just in time education and routine training and communication.

    + Leads and supports programs that maximize employee's protection against infectious diseases.

    + Assures compliance in all aspects of infection surveillance, prevention and control and serves as an Infection Control resource.

    + Develops and maintains best practices and standardized procedures to conduct ongoing surveillance for detection of nosocomial infections.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

    + Bachelor's Degree - Nursing/Healthcare related
