    The Genetics department at BCH is one of the largest pediatric genetics practices in the country. We have experience with both common conditions and very rare conditions affecting just a few hundred children in the world. We specialize in finding answers for complex and hard-to-diagnose genetic conditions, sometimes applying new technologies through our research labs when existing genetic tests are negative or inconclusive.

     

    Our large program includes more than 30 board-certified clinical geneticists, genetic counselors, dieticians, and nursing staff.

    Key responsibilities:

    + Supporting the Genetics Clinics at 300 Longwood and 2 Brookline Place.

    + Will also float to Allergy, Dermatology, Immunology, and Rheumatology clinical specialties.

    + Assisting clinician during examinations (i.e. obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature and blood pressure, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of clinic).

    + Scheduling, receiving and/or registering patients, visitors and staff for appointments or procedures.

    + Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions.

    + Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse.

    + Obtaining records, files and/or results for appointments and entering related information on appropriate computer systems.

    + Answering, screening and routing telephone calls and performing general office support tasks.

    + Transporting patients, supplies and equipment as needed.

    + Working a schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with 1 Saturday morning shift per month.

    Minimum qualifications:

    Education:

    + A HS Diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:

    + 1 year of Clinical Assistant experience or related experience.

    + Pediatric experience strongly preferred.

     

    Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
