Systems Administration - Virtualization
The Contractor shall be capable of performing the tasks &/or possess the skill sets listed below:
+ Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere ESXi Server environments, ensuring their reliability, security, and optimal performance.
+ Create, implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and utilize advanced scripting in PowerShell and/or VMWare PowerCLI to automate tasks, enhance system functionalities, and troubleshoot issues. Must also be comfortable performing Administration and O&M tasks from the command line.
+ Possess knowledge &/or familiarity with the implementation, management, and optimization of Horizon VDI environments with Unified Access Gateway (UAGs). Experience with the management and optimization of Windows 10/11 in a virtualized environment, including experience with the VMWare Optimization Tool is preferable.
+ Candidate will be well versed in Planning, Implementation, Administration and Troubleshooting issues involved with platforms across a variety of OS servers including Microsoft Windows and Red Hat.
+ Candidate will possess knowledge and experience in supporting a geographically disperse multi-site VMware Environment.
+ Candidate is expected to possess expert level knowledge and understanding (e.g. ~10+ years of experience) of VMware vCenter and vSphere ESXi host feature sets including but not limited to vSphere Lifecycle Manager, vSphere Networking (vSphere Distributed Switches (vDS)), vSphere Storage (Datastores, Datastore Clusters, Raw Device Mappings, Fibre Channel SAN Concepts), vSphere HA Clusters (vSphere® High Availability (HA), vSphere Fault Tolerance, vSphere
+ Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), vSphere Cluster Services (vCLS)), vSphere Security, vSphere Resource Management, and vSphere Monitoring and Performance.
+ Possess knowledge &/or familiarity with the implementation, management, and administration of F5 LTM load balancing appliances to ensure high availability and fault tolerance of our applications.
+ Possess knowledge &/or familiarity with the implementation, management, and administration of NetApp ONTAP, NetApp E-series Storage, Brocade Fibre Channel Switches, and Data Storage Networking principles.
+ Maintain detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, processes, and service records.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT infrastructure projects, providing expert guidance and technical leadership.
Basic Qualifications
+ Candidate will possess ~5+ years of experience in SAN switch technology management, storage provisioning, LUN masking, zoning, performance management, and volume management.
+ Candidate will hold a ComSci/CIS/InfoSec/IT related bachelor’s degree (or higher) with ~10+ years of Information Security work experience or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, & IT experience.
+ Candidate will hold and maintain a current (or one vSphere version release previous) VMware certification such as VMware Certified Professional - Data
+ Center Virtualization 2025 (VCP-DCV 2025) or higher certification. (E.G.: VCAP-DCV Deploy 2024 [2] or VCAP-DCV Design 2024)
+ Lead and mentor junior team members in best practices and technical challenges.
+ Ability to participate in a 24/7/365 on call rotation.
+ Organized, detail-oriented, and excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
+ Capability to troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connections, performance/throughput issues, and other related network problems.
+ Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
+ Analyzes development and implementation requirements and makes appropriate modifications to existing systems and prepares specifications based on customer requests.
+ Possess knowledge &/or familiarity with security hardening framework standards and regulations from Center for Internet Security (CIS) Control 4, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53 Revision 5, and Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
