If this sounds like a good fit for you, come join the Foster Care Licensing team located at our Twin Falls field office as a Child Welfare Social Worker 1 (licensed social worker in Idaho) or Child Welfare Social Worker 2 (licensed social worker in Idaho & Master's degree or 2 years of experience working in child welfare).

     

    This position will carry a workload of families licensed to provide foster care and may also provide direction and guidance to Social Worker staff. They deliver and provide direct services to foster families and monitor a foster family's achievements of outcomes for safety, permanency and well-being. They also utilize an array of community resources to resolve issues and participate in interdisciplinary team staffing to support foster families and the children in their care.

     

    Child Welfare Social Worker 1's $25.51/hour.

     

    Child Welfare Social Worker 2's $28.94/hour.

     

    You must be licensed as a social worker in Idaho to pass the exam for this position. After you have received your license, please reapply. Or if you are not interested in being licensed or while you are waiting to be licensed, you might consider applying for a Client Services Technician position or a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist position.

     

    IMPORTANT: Incumbents will be required to participate in the Child Welfare Academy in order to learn Idaho child welfare practices and standards and complete Child Welfare Academy assignments. During the probationary period, incumbents carry a reduced child welfare caseload under the guidance of child welfare supervisors or designated experienced child welfare social workers to gain knowledge and expertise necessary to provide professional child welfare services to children and families who are subjects of child abuse or neglect. *Some travel will be required.

     

    The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

    + Carry a workload of complex and difficult foster care licenses

    + May provide direction and guidance to Social Workers.

    + Incumbent will also provide direct services to foster families.

    + Monitor child and family achievements of outcomes for safety, permanency and well-being

    + Utilize an array of community resources to resolve issues and participate in inter-disciplinary team staffings.

    + Provide emergency and crisis intervention services

    + Evaluate special needs, problems, and resources and provide service plans that may include counseling social services, support and change-oriented activities for foster families

    + Provide input to supervisors regarding observed individual progress and performance

    + Facilitate information sessions, fairs, and online trainings

    + Assist prospective foster parents in application process

    + Conduct home visits to assess safety and suitability of family home

    + Write comprehensive home study assessment in accordance with state/federal regulations

    + Recommend approval or denial of foster home licensure

    + Maintain up to date case records and documentation of each foster home

    + Conduct annual relicense

    + Document corrective action plans

    + Investigate complaints or licensing violations

    + Offer ongoing support for licensed foster homes in receiving annual training

    + Address placement challenges and conflicts

    + Promote retention with supportive and engaging connection and communication with foster families

    + Prepare appropriate home studies for permanency selections

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.     CHILD WELFARE SOCIAL WORKER 1 (CWSW1) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.

    CHILD WELFARE SOCIAL WORKER 2 (CWSW2) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.

    AND

    • Successful completion of Idaho Welfare Academy sessions and assignments. (Child Welfare Social Worker incumbents who have successful completed a nine (9) month experience in child welfare case management in Idaho)

    OR

    • Two years' experience in a public child welfare system or child welfare agency and complete the Child Welfare Academy within the first year of appointment.

    OR

    • Master of Social Work degree and complete the Child Welfare Academy within the first year of appointment.
