Senior Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller

Compensation: $160,000–$190,000 (DOE) + Bonus

A mission-driven private investment firm is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to join its expanding finance and accounting team in San Francisco. Role Overview

Reporting to the Corporate Controller and working closely with the CFO, you’ll play a key role in strengthening financial reporting, supporting fund operations, and driving process improvements. This cross-functional role involves close collaboration with teams across Operations, Asset Management, and Investor Relations, and offers exposure to audits, investor communications, and systems implementation.

Key Responsibilities

+ Lead quarterly financial reviews at both fund and property levels

+ Ensure compliance with partnership agreements and reporting standards

+ Manage quarterly reporting to limited partners, joint venture partners, and internal stakeholders

+ Support cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning

+ Collaborate with fund administrators and property managers

+ Oversee post-acquisition prorations and onboarding processes

+ Drive enhancements in accounting systems, policies, and procedures

+ Assist with treasury and cash management across multiple platforms

+ Document and refine financial policies and internal controls

Requirements

Qualifications

Required:

+ Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including time in public accounting

+ CPA certification with a solid grasp of GAAP principles

+ Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling

+ Hands-on experience with real estate financial statements and fund accounting

+ Exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills

+ High emotional intelligence and unwavering professional integrity

+ Genuine interest in real estate, especially multifamily and affordable housing

Preferred:

+ Familiarity with platforms such as Dynamo, Yardi, or Kyriba

+ Experience in process improvement and automation

+ Knowledge of industry best practices
