Job Title: Field Engineer
Job Description
The Traveling Field Engineer will be part of the industrial group and will travel to various complex industrial projects across the country. These projects range from 3 weeks to 18 months onsite, with scheduled visits home.
Responsibilities
+ Perform analysis of construction methods, including crane reaches, formwork design, erosion control, and grading modifications.
+ Produce sketches and drawings to show field conditions to the architect and clarify plan details for craft persons, such as lift drawings.
+ Verify quality and compliance of installations with specifications and drawings.
+ Process and expedite answers to RFIs generated from the field and ensure correct incorporation of answers.
+ Participate in and contribute to Operation Planning Process and weekly coordination meetings, superintendent meetings, daily crew huddles, and schedule pre-installation meetings for any subcontractor with on-site labor.
+ Prepare and monitor written delivery schedule log and inspect shipments as directed by the Superintendent.
+ Manage project closeout, expedite punch list, and track and verify completion of punch list items.
Essential Skills
+ 5-6 years of experience in industrial construction (food and beverage, pharma, power plant, etc.).
+ Willingness to travel 40-50% of the time.
+ Experience working with multiple trades and overseeing self-performed work, construction management, project management, and field engineering.
+ Proficiency in construction management, RFIs, change orders, project engineering, project coordination, commercial construction, estimation, project scheduling, and blueprint reading.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Four-year engineering degree related to construction preferred.
+ 3-4 years of experience as a Project Engineer on industrial projects preferred.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Valid Driver's License.
Work Environment
This role is based out of Madison, WI, but involves heavy travel. Work will include a few weeks onsite followed by a few weeks back home. The position involves working on a variety of industrial projects, mostly upgrades to existing facilities, particularly manufacturing food and beverage sites, but also including a range of project types. Project sizes range from $5-100M, with durations from 6 weeks to 18 months. The workweek typically consists of 40-50 hours, with the possibility of longer hours during travel days.

This is a Contract to Hire position.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $44.00/hr.
