    Pharmacy Manager

    Job Description

    As a Pharmacy Manager, you will oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with various regulations including USP, DEA, FDA, and state Board standards. You will lead a team of pharmacists and technicians to deliver safe, accurate, and efficient compounding and dispensing services. This role requires you to mentor and train staff, manage scheduling, onboarding, and performance evaluations, and ensure comprehensive compliance with USP standards through environmental monitoring and aseptic techniques.

    Responsibilities

    + Ensure full compliance with USP <797>, <795>, and <800>.

    + Lead and mentor pharmacists, technicians, and staff.

    + Manage scheduling, onboarding, and performance evaluations.

    + Prepare for and respond to audits and inspections.

    + Oversee prescription processing, compounding, verification, and dispensing.

    + Implement and update SOPs per USP, DEA, and Board standards.

    + Monitor and optimize cleanroom operations, including airflow and pressure certification.

    + Manage inventory, including controlled substances, hazardous drugs, and sterile supplies.

    + Liaise with providers for accuracy and appropriateness.

    + Address escalated patient and provider concerns.

    + Educate on compounded therapies, administration, and safe handling.

    + Collaborate on volume, turnaround time, and cost-control goals.

    + Analyze workflow, staffing, and labor costs.

    + Track and report key performance indicators such as error rate, audit results, and turnaround times.

    Essential Skills

    + 3–5 years of pharmacy experience with at least 2 years in sterile compounding management.

    + Strong knowledge of USP <797>, <795>, and <800>.

    + Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

    + Ability to ensure compliance in fast-paced, high-volume settings.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + PharmD preferred.

    + Active pharmacist license.

    + Direct experience managing sterile cleanrooms under USP .

    + Knowledge of ISO classifications, HEPA filtration, pressure differentials, and certification requirements.

    + Familiarity with compounding software and electronic prescription management systems.

    + Experience in financial oversight, inventory optimization, and workflow automation.

    Work Environment

    The position operates during the first shift from 9 AM to 5 PM in a fast-paced environment. The team currently consists of 6 pharmacists, with a total staff of 30. The facility spans 5,000 square feet, with plans for a 4,000 square foot expansion. Currently, there are 6 hoods in place, and 8 more are being added.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Knoxville, Tennessee

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
