Job Title: Principal Software Architect – OSS/BSS Systems

Job Type: Full-Time | Senior Level

Job Summary

We are seeking a Principal Software Architect to lead the design and development of software architecture for Operational and Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS) supporting In-Flight Connectivity (IFC). This role will serve as a technical leader and mentor, driving the creation of scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that enable seamless connectivity experiences for aviation customers.

Key Responsibilities

+ Architect OSS/BSS Systems : Design systems for endpoint onboarding, customer subscription management, billing, and service delivery. Integrate third-party platforms and develop custom software solutions.

+ Requirements Management : Define and manage functional, performance, and security requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.

+ Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work with software engineers, network teams, product managers, and external vendors to ensure seamless system integration.

+ Quality & Compliance : Establish testing protocols and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

+ Technical Leadership : Guide development teams, set architectural direction, and mentor junior engineers. Lead design and test plan reviews.

+ Performance Optimization : Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to meet SLAs.

+ Technology Evaluation : Stay current with industry trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and prototype solutions to support business goals.

Required Skills & Experience

+ OSS/BSS Expertise : Deep understanding of OSS/BSS systems in telecom environments, including endpoint commissioning, billing, and service delivery.

+ Platform Experience : Familiarity with platforms such as ServiceNow (TSM/TSOM), Ericsson Expert Analytics, Amdocs, Openet.

+ Salesforce Integration : Experience integrating OSS/BSS with Salesforce (Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud).

+ Distributed Systems & Cloud : Strong knowledge of microservices, RESTful APIs, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.

+ Telecommunications Knowledge : Understanding of satellite-based connectivity and network management protocols.

+ API & Data Analytics : Experience with API gateways (Apigee, MuleSoft), data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI), and observability practices.

+ Architecture Documentation : Skilled in creating architecture diagrams and documentation using industry-standard models.

+ Agile & DevOps : Proficient in Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like Jira, GitLab, Jenkins, and Confluence.

+ Leadership & Communication : Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Education & Experience

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience).

+ 10+ years of experience in software development or network engineering with OSS/BSS systems.

+ 5+ years in a technical leadership or architecture role

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience with B2B mediation and billing systems.

+ Familiarity with observability tools and practices for maintainable systems.

+ Prior experience in aviation or satellite communications is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $80.00/hr.
