    Job Title: Estimator

    Job Description

    The Estimator will work directly with the Sales and Pre-Construction teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of project size, scope, timelines, and applicable deadlines. The role involves preparing detailed and accurate material take-offs using company software from plans provided by general contractors, architects, and developers for quotation purposes. The Estimator will price and extend all labor and material costs to obtain the proposal price, and will obtain precise pricing per specification of buyout items for inclusion in bid proposals.

    Responsibilities

    + Compute costs by analyzing shop labor, detailing labor, and material requirements.

    + Coordinate with the sales team to identify potential value engineering opportunities for projects.

    + Manage bid pricing from vendors and develop comprehensive, detailed proposals for estimated projects.

    + Ensure timely completion of estimates to adhere to demanding bid schedules.

    + Prepare budgets as well as hard bids.

    + Develop and maintain customer relationships.

    + Actively pursue new bid, estimating, and sales opportunities to strengthen client relationships and expand market presence.

    + Manage architectural metals bid log to obtain accurate bid statistics.

    + Post bid negotiations with clients and sales staff to determine final scopes of work and assign values to items that may be revised or deleted.

    + Assist project management staff with pricing issues on major project revisions.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in steel fabrication and construction estimation.

    + Experience with Bluebeam, Excel, and estimating software.

    + Strong understanding of commercial construction, mechanical systems, and preconstruction processes.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.

    + 3+ years of experience in steel, construction, or metals industries.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in bidding and pricing in the construction industry.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills.

    Work Environment

    The role offers a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility to work two days remotely after the completion of training. This position is part of a growing small company, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
