• Network Engineer

    TEKsystems (Kenosha, WI)


    Overview:

    We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to step into the lead role following the departure of their most senior network resource. This position is critical to maintaining and evolving the county’s network infrastructure, which supports approximately 1,700 users across 12 sites.

     

    The environment is primarily Cisco-based, with Fortinet firewalls, Cisco VoIP, and Meraki wireless access points. Upcoming projects for 2026 include:

     

    + Migration from Meraki to Extreme Networks WAPs

    + Network design and installation for a new building

    + A switch refresh initiative

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Serve as the lead network engineer for the county

    + Provide Level 3 troubleshooting and support

    + Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure

    + Lead and contribute to strategic network projects

    + Participate in on-call rotation (2 weeks/year)

    + Perform after-hours changes during the weekly Wednesday 6 PM maintenance window

    + Act as a backup to the Cisco VoIP Engineer

    Required Skills & Technologies:

    + Cisco routers and switches

    + Fortinet firewalls

    + Cisco VoIP systems

    + Meraki wireless access points

    + Network design and architecture

    + Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills

    Preferred Experience:

    + Prior experience in a county or municipal IT environment

    + Exposure to Extreme Networks

    + Familiarity with hybrid work environments and remote support

    Top Skills:

    + Cisco routing and switching

    + Fortinet firewall management

    + Cisco VoIP administration

     

    Conversion Salary Range: $82,000 – $98,000 annually (based on experience)

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
