    Northrop Grumman is currently looking for an experienced **Staff, Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer** that will be responsible for weapon system simulations both models and as software products, integrating these simulations with other applications, and for using these simulations to verify weapon system requirements. with a strong background in both software and analysis tools.

     

    This position will be located in Northridge, CA.

     

    The successful candidate will perform formal and/or informal leadership roles within our modeling and simulation team. The candidate will work with our C++ based simulations of the AARGM family of missiles with a diverse set of engineers. The candidate will assist in verifying and updating physics-based models written in C++, using simulations that include these models to verify our missile systems, assist with our CI/CD pipelines and build processes, and take ownership over miscellaneous deliveries. The candidate will have opportunities to work with both GNC and sensor algorithms and models. Other technical tasks may include assisting in developing weapon systems requirements verifications, developing scenarios to verify those requirements, analyzing the results using MATLAB or python tools, and digging into the C++ source code of the simulation to track down reasons for apparent requirements failures (Actual issue with the system itself, the system software, or the model representation in C++). The candidate may also do extensive testing of the simulations themselves to verify their suitability for weapon systems requirements verification. Later tasks will vary between software-centric or analysis-centric.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a background in physics, and professional experience in both software engineering and systems engineering, or experience specific to modeling and simulation.

    Basic Qualifications for a Staff Engineer, Modeling & Simulations Systems - (Level 05):

    + BS degree aerospace engineering, physics, or related field that includes some training in physics is required with 12 years of experience or an MS degree in areas above with 10 year of experience is required.

    + Significant experience in developing or troubleshooting C or C++ applications on Windows, and preferably on Linux.

    + Significant experience with either MATLAB or python, with demonstrable experience and skills in using these for data analysis.

    + Significant experience developing requirements, devising requirements verification methods, executing those verifications, and documenting the results.

    + Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deliverables.

    + Experience in either functional, technical, or product owner leadership (formal or informal).

    + Experience in one or more of the following: 6-DOF simulations, MBSE/SYSML, requirements development, GNC, or sensors.

    + Must be able to obtain an interim secret level clearance, and be eligible for a SAP level clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Some experience with 6-DOF simulations or related simulations, or guidance, navigation and control algorithms for airborne platforms (strongly preferred)

    + Experience running Monte Carlo simulations

    + Experience working with an HPC system

    + Experience with hardware in the loop systems

    + Comfortable using GIT as a configuration management system.

    + Familiar with make files or CMAKE.

    + Familiar with Distributed Simulation Systems protocols such as DIS or HLA.

    + General mathematical background in linear algebra and differential equations.

    + Experience using simulations to verify weapon systems.

    + Experience in estimating/planning budget and schedule, and in tracking to that plan. Specific experience in doing so via an agile paradigm is strongly preferred.

    + Experience with SysML, preferably with CAMEO

    + AJEM or other lethality modeling tools

    + AFSIM

    Primary Level Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $256,400.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
