    JOB SPECIFICS

    The Children’s Division is seeking a highly motivated Social Service Worker to provide essential administrative and case-related support to Child Protection Social Workers. This position is being designed to alleviate workload demands so social workers can devote more time to direct casework with children and families. The Social Service Worker will perform a wide range of supportive functions - from clerical tasks to direct client assistance - that contribute to the success of the team and the well-being of the families we serve.

    This position is more than support - it is a cornerstone of worker retention and family outcomes. By completing administrative, procedural, and direct support tasks, the Social Service Worker helps reduce burnout, builds efficiency, and strengthens team wellbeing.     This position is currently in development, but some key responsibilities will include:

    + Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing documents electronically, record keeping, and managing case documentation.

    + Assist with client-related tasks such as completing paperwork, working with clients to get needed information, assisting with data requests, and transporting children and families.

    + Support case activities including: Collecting DNA samples and facilitating drug screenings. Requesting and gathering medical, educational, and other records. Preparing and sending MIFPA notices and other required correspondence.

    + Monitor case timelines and compliance requirements to ensure and assist with timely completion.

    + Take initiative in identifying and completing tasks that reduce workload pressures for social workers.

    + Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity in all work.

    + Perform other duties and projects as needed - large or small - to support the mission and operations of the Division.

    DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

    + Experience in social services and/or human services

    + Experience in administrative support

    + Experience using SSIS

    + Experience interacting with and providing services to individuals from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds

     

    SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

     

    HOURS / DAYS: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm. This position may be based full-time in the office or in a hybrid arrangement (not fully remote) and will involve occasional travel within the community. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

     

    ANTICIPATED HIRING RATE: $27.72 - $37.77 Hourly

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Social Service Worker position is responsible for assuring processes that assist the work of the Community Services Division are developed, implemented, and maintained. This position serves as a lead worker to assure program processes and policies are followed and builds capacity and innovation in their assigned teams. This lead position works independently with limited direction with increasingly complex policies to aid the Community Services Division and assigned teams. Duties may vary depending on the assigned program area.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Maintain compliance and develop reference materials with regards to state, federal, and county regulations and requirements.

    + Develop, implement, and conduct general orientation sessions for department employees on a variety of complex programs.

    + Maintain sites for current reference material for staff and community.

    + Utilizes programs to research and quickly investigate case information for County of Financial Responsibility determination, appeal documentation, crisis interventions, etc.

    + Provide case support, manage case files, and review case records for compliance and completion.

    + Verify eligibility documentation.

    + Interact with clients electronically, via telephone, in person.

    + Assists with providing service directly to clients.

    + Creates referral log entries, SSIS Intakes, SSIS Workgroups.

    + Provide follow-up and tracking of reimbursement for services.

    + Assist with budget process and ongoing monitoring and tracking.

    + Ongoing administrative support to individuals from a variety of teams/programs/divisions/departments.

    + Orders supplies and equipment as needed.

    + Creates forms and templates in a variety of systems.

    + Assist with data analysis and statistical computation for ongoing services and trend reporting.

    + Processes invoices, payment, and tracking including court ordered petitions for payment.

    + Coordinate advisory or community meetings including agenda outline, attendee contact, preparatory work, minutes, distribution of information.

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Semi-sedentary involving office and outside field work. Lifting requirement may include lifting up to 50 pounds.
