Job Description
The Manager of Manufacturing Operations supports Human Technologies’ mission of Creating Employment for People with Disabilities by being responsible for the leadership, training, contract compliance, customer satisfaction, quality, profitability, and safety of manufacturing, assembly and packaging operations and its employees.
Supervises: Manufacturing and production supervisors.Collaborates internally with: Vice President - Products, Director of Warehousing and Logistics, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Safety, and Facilities Management.Collaborates externally with: Customers, Suppliers, SourceAmerica, and NYSID.
Requirements
Responsibilities:1. Create and maintain a quality work environment for all employees, with priorities to safety, training, and opportunities for growth.2. Support HT’s mission and advocate for the employment of people with disabilities on and off the job.3. Provide leadership to the manufacturing, assembly, and packaging departments and establish a culture of excellence by continually communicating and reinforcing the vision, goals, objectives and expectations, establishing measurable key performance indicators, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and effectively communicating results up and down the organization.4. Support business development by providing technical support, operations plans, quality plans, and cost estimates in areas of responsibility. Work with established costing/pricing models to provide quotes directly to customers when requested. Present, or participate in proposal presentations to new and existing customers.5. Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of staffing and logistics plans which emphasizes effective and accountable management and supervision, employment of people with disabilities, compliance with labor ratios and company policies, and meet expectations for customer satisfaction, quality, contract compliance, and profitability.6. Support the Company’s quality assurance and control functions, including the ISO 9001 quality system and any customer-specific quality requirements, and ensure all related operations are in compliance and the company’s goals and customers’ expectations for quality are being met.
7. Oversee the recruiting, hiring, corrective action, and termination activities within areas of responsibility, and make recommendations for improvements, ensuring that all employee-related actions and decisions consistently reflect HT’s policies, procedure, guidelines, and beliefs.8. Establish operational standards, systems, and procedures which emphasize consistent execution of contract requirements and a proactive approach towards eliminating or minimizing non-conformances and inefficiencies.9. Ensure profitability by monitoring and comparing actual project costs to the quote, with an emphasis on supervision, direct labor, supplies, and equipment, and make adjustments where necessary.10. Develop training plans, administer the employee evaluation process, and conduct annual and ad-hoc performance reviews to ensure all employees in area of responsibility are competent or moving to competency in their assigned positions.11. Ensure that Supervisory Notes are in compliance and are used effectively and efficiently to review and improve employee performance.12. Evaluate and document employee performance as required by the company, AbilityOne, and/or NYSID.13. Recommend additions and changes to policies and procedures to support corporate and regulatory compliance as they relate to requirements of DOL, SourceAmerica, NYSID, OSHA and others as necessary.14. Approve timesheets for all assigned employees and ensure all labor reporting is accurate and timely throughout area of responsibility.15. Actively participate in corporate safety by following all safety procedures, creating a safe working environment and practicing and training employees in safe and proper work habits and equipment use.16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice-President of Products.
Qualifications:1. Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent field with a minimum of five years senior level leadership/management experience in dynamic, diverse manufacturing/production environments an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.2. Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Quality and Safety programs and related regulations, with an emphasis on ISO-9001 and OSHA compliance.3. Hands-on experience managing budgets in excess of $10M.4. Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Expertise using MS Office Suite and Business Control Systems (ERP).5. Working knowledge of Service Contract Act, Wage Determination, FAR, NYSDOL, and OSHA regulations preferred.6. Community Rehabilitation Program (CRP) business operations experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of SourceAmerica/AbilityOne, NYSID, ISSA, DOL, OSHA, AAP/EEO preferred.7. Must pass any required federal, state, municipality, and/or customer-specific background checks.
