    Custom Job Purpose:

    This position exists to perform responsible administrative work in supervising all major curriculum areas in the Fine Arts, both at the district and school level. Responsible administrative work in directing, planning, training, organizing, and communicating information concerning the district Fine Arts program. Directs, supervises and evaluates members of the district Fine Arts Department. Works collaboratively with school- based Fine Arts personnel.

     

    Essential Functions of this Job

     

    This position exists to perform responsible administrative work in supervising all major curriculum areas in the Fine Arts, both at the district and school level. Responsible administrative work in directing, planning, training, organizing, and communicating information concerning the district Fine Arts program. Directs, supervises and evaluates members of the district Fine Arts Department. Works collaboratively with school- based Fine Arts personnel.

     

    Non-Essential Functions of this Job

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Extensive knowledge of educational and school administration and supervision in fine arts at the elementary and secondary education level. Considerable knowledge of school administration and the development of educational plans and programs at fine arts schools. Knowledge of multiple arts areas.

     

    Ability to plan long-range fine arts education programs and curriculum. Ability to organize, implement, and evaluate arts programs. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with supervisors, teachers, and principals. Ability to supervise professional personnel in the supervision of major curriculum areas. Ability to communicate effectively with school personnel, students, parents, community groups, and the public.

     

    Bilingual/biliterate preferred.

     

    Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree with certification in Administration or Educational Leadership. Considerable teaching or administrative experience in one or more of the fine arts areas. A minimum of three years' experience as an assistant principal or a minimum of three years' experience in an equivalent non-school-based administrative position with teaching experience in one of the fine arts areas.

    Work Context:

    Requires sitting and some standing, walking, and moving about to coordinate work. Requires coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones, and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the district. Opportunity to make decisions without supervision. Responsible for work outcomes and results. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.

    Physical Environment:

    Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.

     

    Requires travel to schools and work sites within the district.
