    Job Responsibilities

    + Serve as a laser and optical integration engineer for laser systems ranging from early concepts to product prototypes to initial production units

    + Hands-on skill in optical instrumentation and metrology

    + Design, build and test novel laser cavities and laser-based systems

    + Develop detailed alignment procedures and create robotic scripts to automate alignment of laser systems

    + Hands-on experience in the development, prototyping, testing or transfer to production of complex Software/Optical/Mechanical systems

    + Use Zemax to design and tolerance laser and optical systems

    + Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments

    + Carry out basic work instructions that will help in understanding the fundamentals of the Company and also learn new things

    + Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers

    + Complete assigned tasks on time

    + Gather and assemble data for engineers

    + May be required to help in research in a particular field

    + Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers

    + Assist engineers with appropriate design details

    + Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network

    + Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices

    + Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

    + Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    + High school diploma or GED

    + Engineering student; some progress towards engineering degree

    + Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network

    + Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn

     

    The pay scale for this position is $21.43/hour - $30/hour. The pay scale information is a general guideline only. Several factors can influence the pay scale for a position including but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic locations, business considerations, scope and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications.
