    Harborview Medical Center** has an opportunity for a Hospital Assistant to join us in our **new Outpatient Surgery Center.

    WORK SCHEDULE

    + Mondays – Fridays; 7:00am – 3:00pm

    + Day Shift

    + No holidays, weekends, or night hours

     

    The UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center at Harborview is a five operating room surgical unit with supporting pre-operative, post-operative, and sterile processing departments. The anticipated opening date to patients is **January 2026.**

    + Work in a diverse and fast-paced environment

    + OR HAs will assist with direct patient care; transportation of patients, supplies and specimens; ordering and stocking of supplies; and maintenance/set up of special equipment and front desk support

    + Participates in unit and selected departmental activities to promote effective problem solving and communication

    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

    The **UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center** will provide daytime surgical procedures to the community of patients that meet developed criteria.

    ABOUT THE OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER AT HARBORVIEW

    The **new Outpatient Surgery Center opening on the Harborview Campus** is located on the 4th floor of Ninth and Jefferson Building (NJB) and will open January 2026 to patients. The Surgery Center will feature 5 operating rooms, 12 pre/post bays, and sterile processing. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday with no holidays, weekends, or night hours. The Center will offer same-day surgery procedures utilizing state-of–the-art equipment to our community of patients that meet the necessary criteria. This reflects the Center’s innovative, patient-centered culture, supporting ongoing operational efficiencies and quality improvements. The goal is to provide a seamless, low-stress surgical experience for each patient, surgeon, and staff member. The unit will provide a soothing environment with natural lighting and patient privacy.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Provide all activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, feeding assistance, snacks, and repositioning; document care provided in patient charts.

    + Assist with patient mobility needs, including ambulation, transfers (to stretchers, surgical beds, wheelchairs, chairs), and escorting discharged patients to vehicles.

    + Take and document vital signs when delegated by RN; monitor and document intake and output.

    + Support patient care throughout the unit as needed and communicate effectively with RNs and other Health Assistants to ensure patient-centered care.

    + Clean and maintain operating rooms and patient bays to support surgical readiness and hygiene standards.

    + Stock and replenish medical supplies in operating rooms and pre/post-op bays.

    + Perform other support duties as assigned, within scope of practice.

    REQUIREMENTS

    + Nursing Assistant-Registered (NAR) with the State of Washington required, Nursing Assistant-Certified (NAC) preferred.

    + High school diploma or GED equivalent

    + Six months experience involving customer service in a health care setting OR six months experience involving direct patient care OR equivalent education/experience.

    + Valid American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers upon hire

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $52,716.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $75,456.00 annual

    Other Compensation:

    $5,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible full-time and part-time new employees joining UW Medicine
