Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides oversight and management of the University’s merchant processing operations as well as other University wide central treasury activities including banking, leasing, compliance, implementations of Treasury Department initiatives and process improvements. Facilitates daily treasury operations, provides accurate reporting and assists with bank structure management. Develops and recommends process improvements to ensure the accuracy, and effectiveness of all aspects of treasury financial information at the University.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Manages University-wide day to day operations and oversight of merchant processing solutions.
+ Defines and documents business processes related to all aspects of merchant services including merchant applications, onboarding, technical issues, fraud prevention, etc.
+ Performs reconciliation and allocation of monthly merchant processing fee invoices.
+ Acts as Lead expert for the Patient Payment Solution collecting more than one million transactions from patients and lead Treasury representative for health care payment processing.
+ Analyzes patient payment solution service interruption situations to determine resolution and works with Medical Center staff on resolution.
+ Manages payment card transactions data and associated reporting, monthly journal entry to allocate fees to divisions and departments, supply requisitions and other troubleshooting issues.
+ Responsible for the day-to-day management and related analyses of the University’s daily transactions, cash position, monthly cash detail database, and monthly, annual long-term cash forecasts and provides communicating and reporting information to senior University financial officers if requested. Directs, authorized and initiates University wide automated clearing house payments up to $75,000,000.
+ Responsible for managing cash receipts and disbursements from University wide bank accounts and provides analysis for accuracy of bank postings.
+ Maintains communication with external financial service providers to resolve and negotiate bank posting discrepancies and to discuss and review new banking services and works to resolve any discrepancies, disputes/denials/chargebacks and/or fraud situations in a timely manner.
+ Acts as Lead expert for the treasury management system (TMS), Kyriba, and cash forecasting application, Anaplan, and maintains the integrity and accuracy of the applications for the benefit of the University.
+ Maintains current knowledge of treasury and financial regulations impacting the University of Rochester.
+ Provides education and learning tools for Accounts Payable and University departments to mitigate payments fraud.
+ Recognizes opportunities and develops solutions to improve processes to strengthen internal controls.
+ Acts as a Treasury liaison with University departments handling treasury related matters.
+ Supports Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable departments with inquiries related to payments and merchant processing.
+ Reviews requests for payment in foreign funds/banks for adherence to University policy and bank compliance.
+ Confer with external financial service providers to resolve and negotiate bank posting discrepancies and other matters relating to University bank accounts
+ Responsible for management of all monthly bank statements, account analyses and related report submissions.
+ Analyzes lease requests from departments to determine finance/operating and rate analysis.
+ Analyzes invoices submitted to be paid by lease vendor in accordance with intended equipment to be purchased on the lease.
+ Conducts specialized financial analysis and research on subjects such as bank transactions, bank fees, merchant processing fees and leasing.
+ Assists with monthly reconciliation of treasury fees clearing account.
+ Analyzes treasury situations to improve money flow and reduce bank fees.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required
+ Master’s degree preferred
+ 8 years of related experience required
+ 2 years of treasury experience required.
+ Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Excellent communication skills required
+ PC experience using Microsoft applications required
+ Ability to maintain quality and efficiency within tight deadlines required
+ Ability to work independently as well as in a team structured environment required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
+ Certified Treasury Professional (CTP)-AFP upon hire preferred
