POSITION SUMMARY

This position produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) lathe machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, maintaining equipment and supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Prepares and operates CNC lathe machine to perform required tasks

• Understands specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.

• Prepares and loads raw materials and parts on the machine

• Prepares test run to check if the machines produce output according to specifications

• Monitors the machines and makes any necessary adjustments to produce a better result

• Visually and mechanically Inspects finished products to determine if the process has been completed properly

• Checks and maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality

• Adheres to quality control procedures

• Mentors Apprentice and Level I Associates

• Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• Completion of CNC Lathe Machinist Level I qualifications

• Good understanding of GD&T

• Prepares basic Workholding

• With little or no assistance, be able to run through an unproven program

• Make minor changes to a pre-programmed Mastercam file

• Use Mastercam or Solidworks to get dimensions for a limited dimension print

• Ability to do basic programming using Mastercam

• Ability to give machinist double check and metric double check

• Full understanding of cutter selection and speed and feeds

• Ability to bore and check close tolerance holes

• Good understanding of all CNC lathe equipment (able to operate any machine)

• Working knowledge of certified quality standards (AS9100 Rev D)

• Ensures backup of CNC program
