    Senior Insider Threat Analyst

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is charged with protecting and defending the United States against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats, enforcing the criminal laws of the United States, and providing leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international partners. In 2011, Executive Order 13587 directed all agencies operating or accessing classified computer networks to safeguard classified information and establish insider threat detection programs. The FBI's Insider Threat Office (InTO) serves as the central coordinating component for all insider threat issues, with a mission to detect, deter, and mitigate risks originating from within the organization. This Senior Insider Threat Analyst position provides critical analytical and leadership support to InTO by conducting advanced research, analysis, and mentoring that directly contribute to safeguarding FBI personnel, systems, and information from insider risks.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Research and analyze data to identify insider-threat trends/indicators; develop information and assess alternative courses of action.

    + Perform data loss prevention (DLP) functions to monitor and safeguard sensitive information.

    + Respond to RFIs and review/evaluate incoming reporting from FBI HQ, field offices, and partner agencies.

    + Conduct large-scale data analysis, including development of query techniques, prototype programs, and algorithms.

    + Access designated classified and open-source systems/databases; collect, organize, interpret, and format data per InTO SOPs.

    + Compare and contrast multi-source information to identify correlations, discrepancies, and gaps.

    + Produce clear, concise analytic products and finished studies (reports, correspondence, briefings, charts, tables, graphs) with findings and recommendations.

    + Manage secure processing, transmission, and storage of sensitive/classified information.

    + Utilize IT monitoring tools, configuration management, and user/privilege management to support detection and response.

    + Provide technical/operational support for data and case requests; perform statistical analysis and data exploration.

    + Generate and triage potential leads, alerts, and triggers.

    + Identify inappropriate/unauthorized system activity, associations, or communications.

    + Support personnel security reviews and assessments.

    + Prioritize multiple projects; prepare and deliver presentations/briefings to program stakeholders.

    + Mentor, support, and advise less-senior analysts; communicate policies, purpose, and goals.

    + Identify industry issues, risks, and emerging trends; develop innovative projects to address them.

    + Perform quality control of analytic processes and products to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with standards.

    + Define critical topics and initiate comprehensive research; support requirements management and optimize data for strategic program support.

    + Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong written/oral communication in a team environment.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Security Clearance TS/SCI

    + Must have proficient computer skills, including the ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Google Chrome; navigate multiple browser windows, and copy/paste to and from different applications.

    + A minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience performing administrative, analytical, and research functions in national security or operational security-related matters.

    + Bachelor's degree or an additional 4 years of related experience

    + Must demonstrate proficiency in utilizing routine computer applications, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Chrome, and services that operate utilizing these software packages.

    + Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inform and communicate effectively with staff who have various backgrounds and personality types

    + Must have skills in oral presentations and communication of instructions concerning mathematical analysis, and in writing reports or documents that convey the findings/results of mathematical analysis to non-technical audience
