    Job Description

    The YMCA is seeking a dedicated Senior Program Coordinator with a passion for community engagement and youth development to support and oversee programs within Neighborhood Centers: Maple Ponds (Maplewood), Montreal Courts (Little Canada) and Birchwood (Stillwater). Lead a team of coordinators in developing and executing program elements, curriculum and events around family support, academics and learning, childcare, food security, fitness, recreation and more.     YMCA Neighborhood Centers provide youth and family services inside affordable housing complexes to meet families where they live to support basic needs and life skills development.

     

    The salary range for this position is at $23.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

     

    In addition, YMCA Neighborhood Center Staff may bring youth (age 5-12 years) along with them as well!

     

    1. Job Summary:

     

    The Senior Program Coordinator provides daily program direction and supervises program staff. Assists with program management which includes, but is not limited to, marketing, program evaluation, program facilitation, grant reporting, and providing quality customer service. Hire, train, coach, mentor and supervise team members.

     

    2. Essential Functions:

    • Provide daily direction in the delivery of programs and supervision for designated program staff.

    • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, mentor and supervise designated team members.

    • Assist in developing and delivering programs and working hands-on in the program as needed.

    • Assist with program management at multiple locations; this may include conducting program observation/evaluations and compliance audits.

    • Assist in marketing and program communication to members, participants and community partners.

    • Act as a liaison between various program areas, branches, site locations and lead agency partners to implement and assist managing projects and programs which may include youth professional development and leadership.

    • Review monthly reports, communicate budget issues with Program Director and assist with ideas to resolve issues.

    • Perform administrative duties necessary to support the program.

    • Assist in identifying and supporting the grant reporting and implementation process.

    • Represent the YMCA in the community participating in public relations and promotional activities.

    3. Relationships:

     

    This position reports to the Program Director or Executive Director who reports to a Vice President. The incumbent interacts regularly with all levels of employees across the association, including Senior Leadership, Branch and Camp Executives, Directors, and volunteers. The incumbent supervises designated staff.

     

    4. Qualifications:

    Required

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working within the program areas of focus.

    • Minimum of 6 months of experience supervising staff.

    • Maintain up to date knowledge of program areas of focus.

    • Effective written and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Ability to deliver presentations to various audiences.

    • Good organizational skills.

    • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.

    • Ability to build strong relationships with individuals and build community within a group

    • Ability to work with a diverse population.

    Preferred

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field

    • Bi/Multilingual

    5. Work Conditions:

    • Ability to travel locally between locations to attend meetings, training and events.

    • Perform all physical aspects of the position, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

    • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.

    • May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.

    • Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.

    • Must be able to actively participate in youth games/activities.
