The Physics Department at Farmingdale State College seeks a full-time Instructional Support Associate (ISA) to support classes in a variety of college-level physics courses. This position will help prepare and maintain laboratories, assist with equipment setup and care, and ensures a safe and effective learning environment for students and faculty.

Responsibilities:

+ Set up, test, and dismantle laboratory and demonstration equipment as needed.

+ Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and minor repairs on laboratory and research equipment.

+ Maintain inventory and ensure safe storage of hazardous materials.

+ Assist new faculty members with purchasing, setting up, and organizing research laboratories.

+ Gain proficiency in the purpose, operation, and safe handling of all laboratory and research equipment.

+ Collaborate with faculty to develop and revise laboratory experiments for new and existing courses.

+ Work effectively with other campus departments and offices, including Purchasing, the Department of Chemistry, and College Administration, to support departmental goals.

This position may require the availability to work evenings as needed to meet operational requirements, and the ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.

+ Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Experience teaching Physics courses.

+ Extensive experience setting up Physics laboratory equipment in an academic or industrial setting, including minor repairs to electrical equipment.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

+ For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, October 2, 2025, and ending Saturday, October 11, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

+ SALARY: $51,261 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $55,261 Annual Compensation.
