Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a Division Director of Infection Prevention. In this role you will report to the Assistant Vice President of Infection Prevention and partners with the Quality, Infection Prevention, and Patient Safety departments within the West Florida Division and other stakeholders to develop a system of care that promotes sound and scientific infection prevention principles and practices.

You will be accountable for helping to decrease the incidence and transmission of infectious diseases among the HCA West Florida facilities. Through strategic planning, leadership and consultation, the Director will oversee, lead and direct a robust team in the identification and implementation of evidence-based infection prevention practices, goals, and objectives throughout the division.

Responsibilities:

+ **Supports the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of infection prevention and control programs across WFD. Implementation is accomplished through performing surveillance, consultation and education regarding prevention and control activities.**

+ **Serves as an internal consultant in regards to data collection, analysis, reporting and team facilitation in relation to improving patient outcomes related to health care associated infections and infectious diseases.**

+ **Demonstrates an understanding of NHSN HAI surveillance definitions, reporting, and data analysis.**

+ **Responsible for coordination, facilitation and leadership of infection prevention and control activities related to patient and health care worker safety and quality/performance improvement initiatives.**

+ **Serve as a project lead for infection prevention initiatives across WFD.**

+ **Partners with facility leaders, physicians, local, state, and national agencies on activities related to infection prevention.**

+ **Develop and implement standardized Infection Prevention policies and procedures for WFD.**

+ **Monitors division data for infection trends, outbreaks or non-compliance to infection control/OSHA guidelines.**

+ **Reviews, updates, and conducts education and counseling on infection prevention for staff, volunteers, medical staff, patients and parents.**

+ **Conducts monthly variance calls with each Infection Prevention department in the division.**

+ **Conducts monthly division Infection Prevention meetings, as requested.**

+ **Conducts rounds in WFD hospitals and FSEDs to support education and implementation of infection prevention and control activities.**

+ **Support and participates in interdisciplinary performance and quality improvement process.**

+ **Maintains current knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and ensures that the division customers remain informed of appropriate issues.**

+ **Understands and complies with infection control, safety and OSHA procedures and regulations.**

+ **Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the Code of Conduct. Personal/professional conduct reflects the Company’s values and a commitment to the Code of Conduct.**

+ **Performs other duties as assigned**

What qualifications you will need:

+ Master’s degree in nursing, epidemiology, medical technology, public health, or other healthcare science required

+ Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in infection prevention and control and healthcare epidemiology in the acute care setting required

+ Minimum 2 years in leadership role in infection prevention and control required

+ 5+ years in infection control required

+ Certification in Infection Control required

+ Knowledge in epidemiological principles and infectious disease. Knowledge in sterilization/sanitation/disinfection practices.
